STOP THE TRADE

Hundreds of thousands of wild parrots are trapped, captured, and stolen from the wild every year for the pet trade. Wild parrots are being extirpated by rampant legal and illegal wildlife trade. Pet parrot sanctuaries and shelters are overflowing with abandoned, unwanted, discarded parrots or those which have outlived their human companions. Breeders continue to flood the domestic market with more.

The effect on wild birds is catastrophic. An estimated 10% of species will be lost. Which 10 species of parrots are you willing to give up? They will be the most common ones in captivity: Umbrella Cockatoos, Moluccan Cockatoos, African Greys, Timneh Grey Parrots, Yellow-headed and Yellow-naped Parrots, Scarlet Macaws, Sun Conures, Linneolated Parakeets, Fischer's Lovebirds. The least threatened and vulnerable species will then be endangered, some critically so. And so the vortex swirls. Until no parrots exist in wildlands.

We must end the trade in parrots as pets. Those which live with humans must be given the best of care and husbandry for their entire lifespan, but we need to stop the trade in more. we need to cherish those living in freedom with their friends, family, flocks and safe ecosystems.

NO MORE. STOP THE TRADE IN PSITTACINES.

NO MORE ENSLAVEMENT. NO MORE LIVING BAUBLES AND OBJECTS.
